Learn to read Latin and study the works of Vergil, Catullus, Ovid, Cicero, Tacitus and more!<\/p>\n

Through the program, you will gain advanced reading proficiency in Latin and be able to read and interpret important Latin texts from the ancient worlds as well as from many later periods. In addition to courses in the Latin language, you will take a series of elective courses in Roman history and culture, and complement your study of Latin by taking one year of Ancient Greek. Elective courses include offerings such as Roman Drama, Roman Lyric Poetry, The Epic and Vergil, Roman Letter Writers, and Latin Literature of The Middle Ages.<\/p>\n

Depending on your interests and goals, the program offers different options for your Latin pursuits. You can earn your BA in Latin or choose it as a minor to go with any undergraduate major. You can even earn certification to become a Latin teacher. Whichever path you choose, the study of Latin will deepen your understanding of western history and expand your skill set!
