Hosted by the �鶹��ý���� West Coast Florida Chapter, alumni and friends enjoyed a presentation from Biology Professor Scott Kight, who is also the associate dean for the College of Science and Mathematics. Kight led attendees on a virtual tour through the Galapagos and shared stories about the scientific history of the islands, illustrated by stunning photographs. Kight, students, and faculty from �鶹��ý���� traveled to the Galapagos in spring 2020, prior to the shutdown, as part of a biology course, and Kight discussed their learning experiences during this unique opportunity.

Alumni Jane Bogossian Saks ’70, ’75 MA and Gene Saks ’70 appreciated the armchair tour. “We want to thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to see the Galapagos and its animals! It was wonderful,” said Jane.

Although the focus was science, the event had broad appeal. “Dr. Kight was so super enthusiastic, entertaining and shared so much knowledge that even this musician here was really excited about the Galapagos. I was never a science person, but his presentation has us thinking about taking this trip and taking our grandchildren!” says Joe Fiordaliso ’67, who watched the program with his wife, Marilyn Fiordaliso ’68.

A similar digital program was offered during Virtual Homecoming 2020. .

“I enjoyed it immensely”, notes Judy Polley, ’72. Echoing her sentiments is Kathy Litwin Blair ’67. “I just want to add to others who expressed their thanks and enjoyment with the presentation on  the trip to the Galapagos.”
