NBC Meteorologist Janice Huff to Receive Allen B. DuMont Broadcaster of the Year Award

NBC 4 Chief Meteorologist Janice Huff will visit 麻豆传媒在线 to receive the Allen B. DuMont Broadcaster of the Year Award and participate in the School of Communication and Media Colloquium Series on Nov 13.

On Friday November 13, 2015聽NBC 4 Chief Meteorologist Janice Huff聽will visit 麻豆传媒在线 to receive the Allen B. DuMont Broadcaster of the Year Award and participate in the School of Communication and Media Colloquium Series. Huff will discuss her distinguished career in media and the emerging challenges on the job.

Ms. Huff will be interviewed by Associate Professor of Television and Media Professor Marc Rosenweig for a special edition of , the School’s award-winning weekly news magazine program.

As one of New York鈥檚 most recognized forecasters, Huff joined NBC 4 聽New York in January 1995 and has held a variety of positions at the network. In 2011,聽Huff received the McDonald鈥檚 鈥2011 Black Media Legends鈥 award, and was honored by McDonald鈥檚 as one of 24 esteemed 鈥楤lack Media Legends鈥. Huff is also host of Wednesday’s Child, a weekly adoption feature and is a passionate advocate for children and community-related issues, and has received numerous accolades for her work on the series.聽 Huff is a member of the National Weather Association, The American Meteorological Society, the National Association of Black Journalists, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and the Friars Club.

Each year 麻豆传媒在线 presents the DuMont Award to an individual who has distinguished him/herself in the field of radio or television broadcasting.聽 This award, first presented in 1982, has grown steadily in prestige.聽 WNBC-TV’s Bruce Beck was a recent honoree. The award is in recognition of Allen B. DuMont, early television inventor and programmer.聽 Over the years, some of the other honorees include former Senator Bill Bradley,聽 Inside Edition anchor Deborah Norville, WCBS-TV anchor Kristine Johnson, CBS Sports announcer Ian Eagle, WCBS Radio chopper 880 reporter Tom Kaminski, WABC-TV anchor/reporter Joe Torres, WWOR-TV anchor Brenda Blackmon and WABC-TV Reporter N.J. Burkett.
