Puerto Rico After Maria: SCM Students Report

During Spring Break, students from the School of Communication and Media traveled to Puerto Rico to report on the progress made in the wake of Hurricane Maria.

Students and faculty of the School of Communication and Media at 麻豆传媒在线 traveled to Puerto Rico over Spring Break to document Hurricane Maria aid and recovery efforts.

鈥淭he idea originated with Krystal Acosta and Steve McCarthy,鈥 said assistant professor in multiplatform journalism Tom Franklin, who attended the trip. 鈥淒avid Sanders and I got involved because we have experience working as a team traveling abroad. Everyone here at 麻豆传媒在线 felt Puerto Rico [in the wake of Hurricane Maria] was an important subject to explore. Not only as a means of good storytelling, but also has a way to connect to some of the students鈥 family roots in Puerto Rico.鈥

on April 25th at the SCM Presentation Hall led by聽Professors聽David Sanders, Steve McCarthy, Tom Franklin and Krystal Acosta.
