WMSC Nominated for 10 National Broadcasting Awards
Our much-lauded on-campus radio station is in the running for nearly a dozen college broadcasting awards this year.

WMSC, 鈥渢he voice of 麻豆传媒在线,鈥 has been nominated for ten national awards in the following categories by the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System.
The winners will be announced at the IBSNYC on March 6-8.聽 It will be the 80th annual awards ceremony for the organization.聽 The WMSC nominations include:
Best On- Air Personality:聽Ryan Trick
Best Live Music Broadcast:聽The Rad Trads (Shane Furst, Pam Burrows, Nick Cherrey, Nate Williams)
Best Celebrity Interview:聽Interview with Soledad O鈥橞rien 聽(by Stephen Rumbolo & AJ Melillo)
Best Public Affair Program:聽Frankie Perez鈥檚 鈥淔ocus Immigration鈥 (Frankie Perez, Amanda Siess, Filipe Costa, Alex Podolyanchuck, Justin Tirado)
Best Live Broadcast Promotional Event:聽鈥淭oo Many Tickets鈥 (Sam Carliner).
Best Spot News Coverage:聽鈥淓vent with Diane Grossman鈥 (Stephen Rumbolo)
Best Station ID:聽鈥淕ood Evening鈥 (by Josh Tirado)
Best Sports Interview:聽鈥淢SU football鈥 (WMSC Sports Team)
Best Website:听鈥撀犅(Jeff Ramella & Ashley Koutras)
Best Use of Youtube听鈥撀犅 (WMSC Student Management Team聽+ Greg Matos)
The IBS has yet to announce its student management or video categories yet.聽 Those are expected within the next few weeks.
The conference and awards will take place next year in New York City on March 6 鈥 7.聽 Guest speakers will include Lou Simon of Sirius XM, Race Taylor from CBS-FM, Maxwell of Z100, Lee Harris from 1010 News, and Tim Scheld of WCBS 880 in New York
Every year the Intercollegiate Broadcast System honors the best and the brightest among college and high school media.聽 The IBS is an organization with a membership of over one thousand non-profit, education-affiliated radio stations and webcasters. Founded in 1940, IBS is headquartered in New Windsor, New York.
In 2018, WMSC received the Spirit of College Radio Award, and, last year, the station earned a nomination for the prestigious Marconi Radio Awards for 鈥淏est College Radio Station of the Year.鈥
