Your career counselor can help you with all things related to your career plan, including writing a resume and cover letter, preparing for an interview, and exploring potential majors, occupations and industries.  Students should plan to meet with their career counselor once a semester.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Each College and the Feliciano School of Business has a designated Director of Career Services who works with students who have declared a specific major. These college and school Career Services offices provide assistance to students regarding career development, career advising and cooperative education\/internships.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Undeclared students<\/strong> can make an appointment to meet with the Director of Career Development in the Center for Career Services.<\/p>\n

What should I ask my career counselor?<\/h2>\n

You may be speaking with your career counselor about many different topics pertaining to your career goals.  If your major doesn’t clearly dictate a career path or if you are still exploring majors, you may want to ask: <\/p>\n

  • What are some job titles MSU graduates have based on my major?<\/li>\n
  • Who are some of the top employers for my major?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Below are some additional questions you may want to ask your career counselor during your appointment:<\/p>\n

    • I’d like to have my resume critiqued, how do I go about doing that?<\/li>\n
    • What kinds of career events are planned for this semester?<\/li>\n
    • When should I pursue a co-op or internship?<\/li>\n
    • What advice can you share with me regarding the job search? <\/li>\n
    • Is there someone you recommend I reach out to\/network with based on my career goals?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Remember, your career counselor is here to help you at all stages of your career development.  So make sure you prepare a list of questions prior to your appointment to get the most out of your time.  <\/p>\n
