{"id":209611,"date":"2022-04-26T13:41:12","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T17:41:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chss\/?p=209611"},"modified":"2022-04-26T13:41:12","modified_gmt":"2022-04-26T17:41:12","slug":"bridging-the-gap-between-past-and-present-fostering-a-sustainable-global-approach-to-cultural-heritage-in-diverse-communities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/chss\/2022\/04\/26\/bridging-the-gap-between-past-and-present-fostering-a-sustainable-global-approach-to-cultural-heritage-in-diverse-communities\/","title":{"rendered":"Bridging the Gap Between Past and Present: Fostering a Sustainable, Global Approach to Cultural Heritage in Diverse Communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Bridging the Gap Between Past and Present: Fostering a Sustainable, Global Approach to Cultural Heritage in Diverse Communities<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/montclair.zoom.us\/j\/82876533271?pwd=L3N2TkxZRU4yOWtGNk85OXZjWitvZz09\"><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>This two-day, interdisciplinary event is aimed at exploring how cultural heritage studies can bring practitioners from different backgrounds and geographical regions&#8211;in this case, the Caribbean, North America, and the Mediterranean&#8211;to investigate and preserve the architectural, spatial, and artistic heritage of different and diverse communities through conventional methods as well as the incorporation of advanced technologies.<\/p>\n<p>The organizing committee is composed by six faculty MSU members from two different colleges and four different departments: Deborah Chatr Aryamontri and Timothy Renner (both in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/classics-and-general-humanities\/\">Dept. of Classics &amp; General Humanities<\/a>), Dawn Hayes (<a href=\"http:\/\/montclair.edu\/history\">Dept. of History<\/a>), Peter Siegel (<a href=\"http:\/\/montclair.edu\/anthropology\">Dept. of Anthropology<\/a>), Greg Pope and Danlin Yu (both in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/earth-and-environmental-studies\/\">Dept. of Earth &amp; Environmental Studies<\/a>). Over the years, they have developed collegiality and exchanged knowledge fostered by common interests. This conference is the first official venue in which they collaborate altogether and gives them the opportunity to strengthen and deepen their present collaborations.
