We provide exemplary preparation to students for effective elementary mathematics teaching in high-need K-12 educational settings. Our scholars obtain an undergraduate degree in mathematics along with a K-6 elementary teaching certification. Each Noyce @ 麻豆传媒在线 scholar receives <strong>$15,000<\/strong>\u00a0(to cover tuition and fees)\u00a0and a\u00a0<strong>$10,000 stipend<\/strong>\u00a0each year for two years with additional money available for\u00a0<strong>local conference travel and digital backpacks<\/strong>. In return for the funds, students agree to work two years in a high-needs school for each year of funding received (if you receive funds for two years, you would teach in a high-need setting for four years).<\/p>\n<h3>Noyce Scholar Testimonials<\/h3>\n<p><iframe title=\"Video: Noyce Testimonials\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RL6AYkfB__Q?feature=oembed\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen style=\"width: 500px; height: 281px; border: 0px solid #000;\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Program Components<\/h2>\n<h3>BS in Mathematics with K-6 Teaching Certification<\/h3>\n<p>Noyce Scholars obtain an undergraduate degree in mathematics along with K-6 teaching certification. This degree program consists of the same core mathematics coursework as other BS mathematics degrees with some substitutions for meaningful alignment to elementary teaching.<\/p>\n<h3>Inquiry-based Instructional Supplement<\/h3>\n<p>In this workshop model, students are exposed to inquiry-oriented, group-worthy problem sets for Calculus I and Calculus II that are designed to promote students&#8217; problem-solving activity and give workshop leaders experiences facilitating inquiry-oriented group work in mathematics.<\/p>\n<h3>Early and Ongoing Field Experience<\/h3>\n<p>Field experiences are specifically designed to align with the philosophy of this program and provide community knowledge-building efforts that support pre-service teachers as they assimilate a broader notion of the &#8220;field&#8221; to include the community that houses the school in which they observe or teach.<\/p>\n<h3>Undergraduate Research Experience<\/h3>\n<p>In our effort to familiarize scholars with research, MATH 491: Research in Mathematics Education is an elective that provides students with undergraduate research experience.<\/p>\n<h3>Induction Support<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #727580\">A\u00a0<\/span><strong>three-year induction program<\/strong><span style=\"color: #727580\">\u00a0supports each scholar\u2019s transition into full-time teaching through site-based coaching and mentoring,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #727580;font-family: Roboto, sans-serif\">social\/networking events,<\/span><span style=\"color: #727580\">\u00a0and ongoing professional development for\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #727580;font-family: Roboto, sans-serif\">teaching and leadership.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Who Is Eligible?<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Undergraduate students enrolled in the program leading to a <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.montclair.edu\/programs\/teacher-certification-mathematics-elementary-grades-k-6\/\">Mathematics degree with K-6 teacher certification (MAEL)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Juniors and Seniors admitted to the Teacher Ed.
