In that class, students discuss many different aspects of queerness: queer movements (the riot at Compton\u2019s Cafeteria; queer identities (trans, interse ACE); queer tactics (liberation philosophy), queer spaces (drag balls, counterpublics); queer aesthetics (Prince, David Bowie). These projects were designed to educate others in accessible ways.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student, Angela D&#8217;Alessandro&#8217;s project <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/gender-sexuality-and-womens-studies\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/174\/2023\/09\/Is-HEAVY-METAL-queer_Angela-DAlessandro.pdf\"><strong>Is Heavy Metal Queer?<\/strong> <\/a>discusses the history of the heavy metal music genre and how it relates to queerness through the discussion of bands, artists and song lyrics.<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Student, Ness Rodriguez&#8217;s project <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/gender-sexuality-and-womens-studies\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/174\/2023\/09\/Is-HEAVY-METAL-queer_Angela-DAlessandro.pdf\"><em><strong>It&#8217;s Radical To Be Trans <\/strong><\/em><\/a>provides thoughts, insights and <em>&#8220;a new view on being trans and new ways to talk about gender.&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Final project: Queering it Up These are two examples of Queering It Up final projects from Dr. Dadas&#8216;s Queer Identities class GLQS 201.
