If you have any questions about orientation, please contact I-20@montclair.edu.<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Graduate Student Orientation<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<h3><strong>Welcome to Global Compass: Navigating Your Graduate Experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This orientation experience will be in\u00a0<strong>TWO required parts<\/strong>\u00a0and provide you with all of the information needed for a successful transition to your studies at 麻豆传媒在线.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Part I (pre-arrival\u00a0<u>online<\/u>\u00a0webinar series)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You must attend each webinar topic ONE time:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li role=\"presentation\">Adjusting to U.S. Life: Culture and Costs<\/li>\n<li role=\"presentation\">I want a job! The facts about employment in the U.S.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Part II (post-arrival <u>in person<\/u>\u00a0orientation)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In-person orientation will be held on <strong>Wednesday, August 26, 2026<\/strong>. Please do not register for the in-person orientation sessions until (1) you have attended both online webinars, and (2) received your visa to attend 麻豆传媒在线.<\/p>\n<h3>In-Person Orientation<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, August 26, 2026<\/strong>: This in-person orientation session will be hosted on campus by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/\">Office of Global Engagement (OGE)<\/a> in <em>University Hall, Floor 7<\/em>, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Orientation check-in will begin at 9:00 am. Once you arrive on campus, you will see signs and orientation leaders who will direct you where to go.<\/p>\n<p>Topics to be covered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maintaining your Status (F-1), MyGlobal Portal &amp; Immigration Check-In<\/li>\n<li>Understanding U.S. Academic Culture<\/li>\n<li>University Police Department<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Commuter and Parking Services<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">And many more resources to be a successful student.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Registration is required!<\/strong> <em>Please only register if you have submitted your <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>deposit<\/strong><\/span>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/graduate.montclair.edu\/portal\/internationalgraduateorientation\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/global\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2025\/03\/register-here-300x74.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"425\" height=\"105\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>What to bring:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sweater or jacket \u2013 the room can get cold<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Appetite \u2013 Light refreshments will be served. This is your opportunity to try some American food!<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Questions \u2013 Bring any questions you have!<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Do not bring guests<\/strong> as they cannot be accommodated, this includes family members, parents, significant others, and children.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Pets are not allowed.<\/strong> All service animals must be approved by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/disability-resource-center\/\">Disability Resource Center<\/a> before they are permitted on campus and the confirmation of approval must be sent to OGE before the orientation day.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Other Orientation Sessions:<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Incoming graduate students may be required to attend multiple orientation sessions before the start of their program. You will receive an email regarding any sessions that you must attend.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Undergraduate Freshmen and Transfer Student Orientation<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Freshmen and transfer students will attend the college-wide new student orientation. You can find more information on this orientation here: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/orientation\/\">Undergraduate Orientation<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. ALL incoming international undergraduate students are required to attend a MANDATORY Maintaining Your F-1 Status session in addition to the campus-wide undergraduate orientation. This session will be run by the Office of Global Engagement (OGE). Please check back for more information.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">J-1 Exchange Students<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\"> \n<p><span style=\"color: #333333\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Please contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/montclair.studioabroad.com\/index.cfm?FuseAction=Programs.ViewProgramAngular&amp;id=59598\">International Academic Initiative&#8217;s<\/a> office for more information about this orientation. All incoming J-1 international exchange students are required to attend the Maintaining Your J-1 Status session in addition to the IAI Exchange Student orientation. This session will be run by the Office of Global Engagement (OGE).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Resource Fair for ALL New Students<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>Please check back for more information about the new student resource fairs.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Parking and Transit Information<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>When coming to campus for orientation or just a visit, you can park in either the Red Hawk Parking Deck or Car Parc Diem Parking Deck for $12 for the entire day.
