Hazing is defined as any action or situation, whether occurring on or off campus, in connection with the recruitment, initiation, admission, affiliation, or continued membership in a student organization (including but not limited to fraternities and sororities, athletic teams, club\/intramural sports, honor societies, registered student organizations, etc.), which:<\/p>\n

  1. Places or may place another individual in danger of physical, emotional, or psychological harm; or<\/li>\n
  2. Demonstrates indifference or disregard for the rights, dignity, or well-being of another; or<\/li>\n
  3. Violates local, state or federal law, University policies, the Student Code of Conduct, Greek Life policies, athletics team policies, intercollegiate athletics and club team policies, or the governing policies of the student organization.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Organization members who witness hazing and do not report it, or plan or perpetrate a hazing incident, or organization leaders that have prior knowledge or withhold information of an incident, may be subject to individual conduct action in addition to actions taken against the organization as a whole. The term \u201cmember\u201d includes individuals who participate in organization activities on a limited basis or have not been fully initiated into the organization.<\/p>\n

    Consent is not a defense to hazing. Hazing can occur regardless of an individual\u2019s willingness to participate.<\/p>\n
