Note: This memo is a courtesy reminder for anyone using the Zoom web conferencing software on their personally-owned computer, smartphone, or tablet.\u00a0 All University-owned computers provided to faculty and staff that are maintained by the IT Division or the distributed technology groups in each college should already be at the latest versions of the Zoom client through automatic updates, so no action is required.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

To continue using the Zoom client on your personally-owned devices, you must upgrade the software by November 6th<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

In an effort to maintain product performance and improve the security of its platform, Zoom will be requiring all users to be on its latest Zoom Client beginning Saturday, November 6, 2022. This affects all Zoom Clients across any personal computers, smartphones, or tablets you may own. (see chart below)<\/p>\n

For anyone using an older version, you will be forced to upgrade starting on Saturday, November 6th before you can open the Zoom client or enter a meeting. Please Note: While we encourage you to use the Zoom client, anyone using Zoom through a browser will not be affected. However, using the browser for Zoom does not have all the same security levels, features, and functions as the client.<\/p>\n

What Do I Need to Do?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

University-Owned and Managed Devices<\/strong><\/p>\n

Information Technology has been automatically distributing the latest Zoom client upgrade since Friday, October 27th.\u00a0 We have proactively removed any older versions and installed the correct version. If you are not on the correct version (see chart below), please contact the IT Service Desk or your local technology team.<\/p>\n

Personally-owned Devices, Smartphones, Tablets, and Unmanaged University Devices\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are running an older version, please update your Zoom client from the zoom download site<\/a>.<\/p>\n
