Students, professors, staff and 麻豆传媒在线 alumni, along with local residents and NYC-based supporters continue to remind the Chair of the importance of this work by attending and providing feedback. After all, what is a lecture, a concert, or an exhibition without an engaged audience?<\/p>\n<p>Below,\u00a0our participants share their insights on the meaning and value of cultural events on a campus that, while offering\u00a0opportunities for academic growth, also serves its community through a calendar of original and stimulating\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/events\/\">events<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2017\/08\/Teatro-delle-Albe-300x225-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Image of students at Teatro delle albe event\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>STUDENTS<\/strong>\u00a0have expressed great enthusiasm about cultural events because they give them the chance to explore their fields of study beyond the classroom experience. They are inspired by the contributions of artists, scholars, and professionals\u00a0who serve as role models for them. After attend\u200cing panels, book presentations, or film screenings, a good number of students often choose to develop their final projects around the topic\u00a0of the event because of the\u00a0invaluable insights that it offered them. Some students have even identified their future professional paths thanks to events such as translation-focused programs.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/events\/meaning-of-cultural-events\/important-tips-for-students-attending-events\/\">Important tips for students attending events<\/a>\u200c<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2017\/12\/040615_8134_Inserra-Amara-Lakhous-X5_adjusted-300x90.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Inserra's Lecturer Amara Lakhous\" width=\"300\" height=\"90\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u200c<strong>PROFESSORS<\/strong>\u00a0who have embraced the cultural events as part of collaborative endeavors,\u00a0are able to enrich the teaching experience by incorporating the events into their syllabi.\u00a0They often require their students to attend these events in lieu of a regular class meeting. While some professors opt for extra-credit only, it is the intra-curricular approach that truly complements and enhances the content of the class. Linking\u200c\u00a0teaching units to the subject of the events prepares the students and offers opportunities for reflection and\u00a0creation both before and after the event. Professors can collaborate on the development of these activities on Canvas and share the results such as final papers\u00a0that are centered on an event\u2019s theme.\u00a0These cultural events provide professors with a uniquely interactive and interdisciplinary approach to teaching.\u200c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/events\/meaning-of-cultural-events\/important-tips-for-professors-attending-events-with-their-classes\/\">\u00a0Important tips for professors attending events with their classes<\/a>\u200c<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2017\/08\/Teachers-OK-250x215.jpg\" alt=\"Teachers sitting at an event\" width=\"250\" height=\"215\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>TEACHERS\u00a0<\/strong>from the K-12 system, and in particular middle and\u00a0high schools,\u00a0often bring students to events that provide opportunities for cultural and linguistic enrichment in line with their curriculums. In some cases, special events are designed to bring high school and university students\u00a0together\u00a0in order to create a bridge across the two systems and introduce students to the \u200cuniversity environment (see\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/delle-albe-voice-workshop-teatro-delle-albe-voice-workshop\/\">Theater workshop<\/a>). The Inserra\u00a0\u200cChair \u200coccasionally provides funds for transportation to\/from campus. Events always provide\u00a0<strong>Professional Development\u00a0<\/strong>opportunities through our ADP Center. The success of the Inserra Chair\u2019s robust calendar of Italian and Italian American cultural activities and events is the result of the dedicated efforts of many. Events not only provide cultural nourishment at a personal level,\u00a0they also directly\u00a0connect\u00a0staff contributions to the work of professors\u00a0and students. Staff members often bring families and friends to these events. These cultural and social exchanges and interactions connect the many components of our complex University community.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u200c<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/inserra-chair\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/71\/2017\/08\/Mangia-Piano-St-Joseph-Inserra-Coccia-UNICO-Re-300x225-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"People at an inserra event\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u200c\u200c<strong>COMMUNITY MEMBERS, ALUMNI AND DONORS<\/strong>\u00a0attend these events not just because they are by Italian origin, or because they are passionate Italophiles, but also because they find the subjects covered by the events to have broad, if not, universal interest.\u00a0Regardless of their backgrounds, or professional fields, or ages, they always find something stimulating and interesting to enjoy. They also appreciate the exceptional opportunity to take advantage of these programs at no cost. Events \u200cof this caliber would most likely entail a ticket if presented at a theater or auditorium off campus. Additionally, community members appreciate that the vast and diverse Inserra calendar\u00a0holds events in their own area, at an easily accessible and welcoming campus that eagerly serves the local community,\u00a0saving them a trip to New York to be part of a cultural scene.\u200c<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Ultimately,\u00a0the Inserra cultural programs continue to attract interest because they represent an occasion for social encounters, personal relations and professional networking &#8211; over food, as Italian customs require!<\/p>\n<p>Your presence and support is an engine of inspiration for present and future programs.
