On April 24, 2024, the US Department of Justice updated its regulations for Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)<\/a>, requiring that all web content must be accessible. The University must ensure all web pages, documents, systems, instructional materials, and digital content meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA<\/a> by April 26, 2027<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Although the Disability Resource Center (DRC)<\/a> assists students in receiving accommodations to equalize access, faculty play a key role in ensuring that courses are accessible to all students. It is imperative that the three principles of Universal Design for Learning<\/a> are considered in your approach to teaching and learning:<\/p>\n

  1. Multiple Means of Representation<\/strong>: Learners differ in the ways they perceive and comprehend information.<\/li>\n
  2. Multiple Means of Action and Expression<\/strong>: Learners differ in the ways they can navigate a learning environment and express what they know.<\/li>\n
  3. Multiple Means of Engagement<\/strong>: Learners differ in the ways they can be engaged or motivated to learn.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
