Adjunct Faculty /mathematics/2018/07/10/18382_adjunct-faculty/ Tue, 10 Jul 2018 14:00:38 +0000 http://www.montclair.edu/news/article.php?ArticleID=18382 The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÔÚÏß is seeking adjunct faculty members to teach 1-2 sections of an introductory mathematics or mathematics education course. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence. More specifically, they should maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources. Successful candidates will prepare and utilize a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the Department/Course Coordinator. This includes assisting in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectives. Successful candidates are also expected to maintain access to students through posted office hours and electronic communication. In addition, they should demonstrate a positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the community. Possessing effective communication skills, both written and orally, is required.

Qualifications

Successful candidates must have at least a Master’s degree from an accredited institution in mathematics or a related discipline and be able to demonstrate strong teaching skills. Having a PhD degree is a plus. Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for at least two professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview. Successful candidates will be invited to campus for an interview and teaching demonstration. Preference is given to candidates who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices.
