The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) has announced that �鶹��ý���� is one of 39 providers from 16 states and Puerto Rico to receive new accreditation for its educator preparation programs.

CAEP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Educator preparation providers (EPPs) seeking accreditation must pass peer review of the CAEP standards, which are based on two principles: solid evidence that the provider’s graduates are competent and caring educators, and solid evidence that the provider’s educator staff have the capacity to create a culture of evidence and use it to maintain and enhance the quality of the professional programs they offer.

�鶹��ý���� is committed to serving the educational needs of New Jersey with 20 initial teacher certification areas and eight advanced programs for educators characterized by academic rigor and currency in the development of knowledge and its applications.

“Our students, faculty, staff and school partners should be very proud of the work they are doing. We have set a high bar for our teacher preparation programs and CAEP Accreditation validates the hard work we are doing,” said Katrina Bulkley, interim dean for the College of Education and Human Services at �鶹��ý����. “Our students and their families are investing in an education program that is designated as nationally accredited for teacher preparation.”

The fall 2021 review by the CAEP resulted in 39 newly accredited EPPs, bringing the total to 462 providers approved under the CAEP – rigorous, nationally recognized standards that were developed to ensure excellence in educator preparation programs.

“These institutions meet high standards so that their students receive an education that prepares them to succeed in a diverse range of classrooms after they graduate,” said CAEP President Christopher A. Koch. “Seeking CAEP Accreditation is a significant commitment on the part of an educator preparation provider.”
