Profile
As a strategic communication scholar, Dr. Luo鈥檚 interdisciplinary research examines how communication shapes organizational effectiveness, public discourse, and technology adoption in an increasingly digital and AI-driven environment. Her work sits at the intersection of strategic communication, artificial intelligence (AI), social media analytics, and organizational behavior, advancing both theory and practice across communication, management, and data-driven research.
Her research spans internal communication and leadership, corporate social responsibility (CSR) and corporate social advocacy (CSA), message effectiveness, and social media analytics. Across these areas, she examines how communication influences employee engagement, trust, and well-being; how organizations navigate complex sociopolitical expectations; and how strategic messaging shapes attitudes and behaviors in health, environmental, and advocacy contexts. A central component of her recent work involves analyzing large-scale social media data to understand real-time public responses to crises, cultural moments, and sociopolitical events.
Her current research advances a human-centered, communication-driven approach to artificial intelligence, examining both its transformative potential and its risks. She explores how communication shapes AI adoption, employee empowerment, and organizational outcomes, while addressing critical issues such as bias, misinformation, ethical decision-making, and human oversight. This work positions strategic communication as central to understanding and guiding how AI is integrated into organizational practice and public life.
