{"id":206003,"date":"2018-05-31T09:55:50","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T13:55:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/computer-science\/?p=206003"},"modified":"2018-05-31T09:55:50","modified_gmt":"2018-05-31T13:55:50","slug":"anthony-scriffignano-cdo-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/school-of-computing\/2018\/05\/31\/anthony-scriffignano-cdo-club\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthony Scriffignano &#8217;82, &#8217;85 MA, Named U.S. Chief Data Officer of the Year 2018 by CDO Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr.\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Anthony Scriffignano<\/span>, senior vice president and chief data scientist at\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dnb.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dun &amp; Bradstreet<\/a>, was recognized on May 30 as the US Chief Data Officer of the Year 2018 by the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener external noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/cdoclub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"linkOnClick\">CDO Club<\/a>, the world\u2019s largest community of C-suite digital and data leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Scriffignano was presented with the award after his keynote, <em>Digital Disruption: Evolve Or Fade, The Choice Is Ours,<\/em>\u00a0at the 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0annual\u00a0NYC CDO Summit, hosted in the Roone Arledge auditorium at\u00a0<span class=\"xn-org\">Columbia University<\/span>\u00a0in\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">New York City<\/span>\u00a0by CDO Club founder\u00a0<a rel=\"noopener nofollow external noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/davidmathison\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"xn-person\">David Mathison<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Scriffignano is an internationally recognized data expert who leads a team of data scientists at Dun &amp; Bradstreet, which provides commercial data, analytics, and insights to companies of all sizes around the world.<\/p>\n<p>With an extensive background in linguistics and advanced algorithms, Scriffignano holds multiple patents worldwide. He recently briefed the US National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee regarding reports to the President on Big Data Analytics and Emerging Technologies Strategic Vision. He has also delivered keynote addresses and served as a forum panelist at major industry and academic events globally.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"red\"><p>Data is the lifeblood of the online economy, and organizations now require people in leadership positions who can balance business requirements while providing strict controls over user privacy and security.<\/p>\n<p>Dun &amp; Bradstreet is one of the world\u2019s most trusted sources of data and analytics, and Anthony\u2019s thought leadership continues to provide innovative, sound counsel to businesses and organizations as they navigate data challenges in today\u2019s global marketplace. Therefore, I am delighted to name Dr.\u00a0Anthony Scriffignano\u00a0as the US Chief Data Officer of the Year for 2018.<\/p>\n<footer><cite>David Mathison, CDO Club Founder<\/cite><\/footer>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Scriffignano has more than 40 years of experience in multiple industries and enterprise domains and currently serves as SVP and Chief Data Scientist at Dun &amp; Bradstreet. Since 2002 he has held various positions, including leading Global Data Strategy and Data Technology Development. Prior to Dun &amp; Bradstreet, he was Senior Manager at Deloitte Consulting, and held IT, Developer, and Analyst roles at Tower Cranes America and Harrison Alloys, and also taught as Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We are living in the age where we will either be overwhelmed by the amount of data and the pace of change, or where we will learn to ask new questions and derive new insights that lead us to far better uses of our increasingly valuable data assets.
