Through our partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.getrave.com\/login\/montclair\"><strong>Rave Mobile Safety<\/strong><\/a>, we provide safety, academic and auxiliary applications through use of the voice, text and data capabilities of today&#8217;s wireless carriers. Below are overviews of the Rave applications and individual instructions on how to use them:<\/p>\n<div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Rave Texts Alerts - Students<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p>Rave Alerts is the primary mobile communications tool at 麻豆传媒在线 that notifies the campus community in emergency situations, as well as other vital scenarios that might impact the campus.<\/p>\n<p>Students are automatically registered through their emergency contact information in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.montclair.edu\/nest\">NEST<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please ensure your emergency contact information is accurate.<\/strong> All broadcast alerts for situations including school closings, power outages, security threats, weather hazards, evacuations and natural disasters will be texted to your phone or your preferred email address or both.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On your phone, open a web browser and go to <a href=\"http:\/\/nest.montclair.edu\">nest.montclair.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Select &#8220;Personal Information&#8221; and click &#8220;Emergency Contacts.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>It will open a new window. This new opt-in list is specifically for campus visitors and users without a University NetID.<\/p>\n<h3>How to Sign Up!<\/h3>\n<p>Users can sign up at any time by texting the keyword\u00a0<strong>montclairstatealerts<\/strong>\u00a0to one of the following numbers: 226787, 67283, 78015 or 77295.<\/p>\n<h3>How Is This List Managed?<\/h3>\n<p>The opt-in users are placed on a separate list from the main Rave Text Alert that houses users with a University NetID. This new system is completely user-managed.<\/p>\n<p>If a family member or visitor signs up for the Rave Text Alerts and wants to be taken off of the system, they can text \u201cSTOP\u201d to one of the following numbers: 226787, 67283, 78015 or 77295. Texting \u201cSTART\u201d to any of these shortcodes will resume \/ reinstate the Alert messages.<\/p>\n<h3>Message Rates May Apply<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Please Note:<\/strong>\u00a0While Rave Mobile Safety does not charge for this service, message and data rates may apply. Depending upon the user\u2019s current mobile phone service plan and contract, their carrier may charge for text messages. Please refer to the current mobile phone service plan and contract for additional information.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">Rave Guardian<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p><a name=\"guardian\"><\/a><strong>Rave Guardian:\u00a0<\/strong>Guardian is the award-winning safety application that makes your safe campus here at 麻豆传媒在线, safer. Guardian is a timer-based system accessed by using the free Guardian safety app and clicking on the Safety Timer icon and entering a PIN number that you create upon registration.<\/p>\n<h3>Rave Guardian Registration<\/h3>\n<p>Download the Rave Guardian app from the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/rave-guardian\/id691246562\">Apple<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.ravemobilesafety.raveguardian&amp;hl=en_US\">Play<\/a> Store.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the prompts to register your account. The email you use to register will be your University email address that ends in <strong>@montclair.edu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Rave Guardian Overview<\/h3>\n<p>Rave Guardian transforms your smartphone into a personal safety device, giving you peace of mind and boosting campus security. Here\u2019s how to use it:<\/p>\n<h4><strong>How the Safety Timer Works<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Before walking somewhere, like from the library to your residence hall, activate the Safety Timer.<\/li>\n<li>When you arrive safely, deactivate the timer. No alerts are sent in these passive cases.<\/li>\n<li>If the timer expires, University Police are notified with your safety profile and location.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>What to Include in Your Timer Status<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Current location and destination.<\/li>\n<li>Residence hall and room number or vehicle details, if applicable.<\/li>\n<li>Who you\u2019re meeting or where you\u2019re headed, along with a brief clothing description.<\/li>\n<li>Pre-existing medical conditions, if relevant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Deactivating a Timer<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Tap &#8220;Deactivate&#8221; and enter your PIN to end the timer.<\/li>\n<li>If the timer isn\u2019t deactivated, University Police are alerted with your last location and safety profile.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Additional Safety Features<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Duress Code:<\/strong> Enter a PIN one number higher than your original to silently alert police of a potential emergency.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PIN Expiry Notification:<\/strong> If too many incorrect PIN attempts are made, police are alerted, ensuring your safety if your phone is compromised.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Location Services:<\/strong> If your timer expires, police can track your phone\u2019s location with accuracy between 50-300 meters, depending on conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Panic Call<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>If you need immediate help, tap &#8220;Call&#8221; in the Emergencies section of the app to alert University Police. This works with or without an active timer and automatically creates an active case with your safety profile and location.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Important Notes<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Police cannot access your location or profile unless your timer expires or you activate a panic call.<\/li>\n<li>Your timer will still expire and notify police even if your phone is turned off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Take control of your safety and download Rave Guardian today to make 麻豆传媒在线 a safer place!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer\"><div class=\"prpl-drawer-header\">E-Tips<\/div><div class=\"prpl-drawer-content\">\n<p><strong>E-TIPS<\/strong>: E-TIPS is a tip hotline. You can report anything from bullying to a broken car window.<\/p>\n<p>E-TIPS is a tip hotline.
