Techniques and Technologies for Titling Live Performances (Presentation of the “Titling Voices Across Continents” Project)

This program is first and foremost the occasion for the official illustration of the international project “Titling Voices Across Continents”听(see聽), presented in collaboration by the Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies at 麻豆传媒在线 (Italian Program, Department of Spanish and Italian) and Prescott Studio, a titling agency based in Florence Italy. The project has provided English surtitles produced in 麻豆传媒在线 to a calendar of plays presented in Milan on the occasion of Expo 2015.
It is also the final of a聽聽of in-class presentations by experts in translation, interpretation, and titling/captioning that was given both online and in person throughout the Fall 2015 semester as part of a course in Italian translation offered in the Italian Program and taught by Dr. Marisa Trubiano.
In particular, the Dec. 11 program will embrace a workshop on translation/titling focusing on the select materials produced within the 2015 “Titling Voices Across Continents” project.

PRESENTERS’ BIOS
Annalisa Rossini聽received her Diploma in Cultural Management at the Scuola d鈥檃rte drammatica “Paolo Grassi” (Milan) after graduating in Modern Languages at聽IULM. She has worked as touring manager at the “Centro di Ricerca per il Teatro” in Milan, in聽Management of international guest performances for Mittelfest (a festival dedicated to Mittel-Europe culture), and as production and touring manager at Teatro Stabile della Toscana. Since 1998 she鈥檚 been working as production and touring manager at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano 鈥 Teatro d鈥橢uropa, where she currently oversees the theater’s international activities within the Production Department.
, a graduate in History of Music and German Studies, begins his professional activity in 1977 as editor in chief for a musicological series (La Nuova Italia Editrice), later followed by a position as editorial head for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (the Florence Opera House) from 1986 to 1993. In the early 1990s, his professional experience in the field of operatic theatre is extended to include directing and writing. In 1987, he achieves the position of author of surtitles for the Florence Opera House and in 1996 he founds Prescott Studio, a Company that is today a point of reference both nationally and in Europe in the linguistic mediation services for the live performing arts. Prescott Studio, which collaborates with the principal theatrical festivals and institutions in Italy, can count over 1,000 productions, both opera and drama. Since 2002, in addition to presentations in Italy, theatrical titling edited and coordinated by Mauro Conti takes place in Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Prague, Santiago de Chile, Muscat (Oman), Al-Manamah (Bahrain), Chicago, New York.
聽is a director, actress, journalist, teacher, lecturer, consultant, dialect-coach curator with an Italian accent. She studied and worked professionally in theater for over ten years in Italy before relocating to NY where she founded KIT-Kairos Italy Theater, now the preeminent Italian Theater Company in NY. She is a member of the Director鈥檚 Lab at Lincoln Center, and of its international sub-group WorldWideLab. Since 2011 she is also Associate Member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. She is the dialect coach for some favorites on HBO Boardwalk Empire.
聽is a New York-based actress, actively working on theatrical,聽tv & film projects聽as well as commercials and voiceovers. Carlotta聽is a graduate of the聽American Academy of Dramatic Arts and of the Academy Theatre Company. Since making her聽New York stage debut聽in聽2011聽with the award-winning play “Mornings at Ten聽to Four”聽by Luca de Bei, Carlotta聽has performed with acclaimed directors and ensembles聽at the Access Theater (“The Balcony”),聽The Secret Theater聽(“础肠迟辞谤蝉”听),聽Theater for the New City (“Six Passionate Women”)聽and many others. Latest on-camera projects include聽commercials and TV shows as well as leading film roles with up and coming New York artists, plus dozens of commercial, narration and educational voiceovers in multiple languages.
