Student presents at 40th PME-NA Conference
Debasmita Basu, presented her dissertation “Examining the social aspects of the Greenhouse Effect through mathematical modeling” in the poster session at the conference held in Greenville, South Carolina.

Debasmita鈥檚 dissertation study is part of a larger project聽鈥Assimilating Mathematical and Computational Thinking into Earth and Environmental Science鈥 funded by the National Science Foundation. In addition to this poster presentation, Debasmita also had two more presentations at the same conference that focused on her graduate聽assistantship work on the聽Dynamic Measurement project.
About the聽North American chapter of the International Group for the Psychology of Mathematics Education (PME-NA)
The major goals of PME-NA are:
- To promote international contacts and the exchange of scientific information in the psychology of mathematics education.
- To promote and stimulate interdisciplinary research in the aforesaid area, with the cooperation of psychologists, mathematicians and mathematics teachers.
- To further a deeper and better understanding of the psychological aspects of teaching and learning mathematics and the implications thereof.
