The Sports Communication Pre-college Summer Program will introduce students to a range of exciting topics and career opportunities in the world of sports and media. The program is designed to give students opportunities to learn about and gain hands-on experience in sports production and broadcasting, content creation, sports reporting, and sports public relations.
Students will learn from Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÔÚÏß faculty and guest speakers with real world experience in the sports communication industry. Using our University’s state-of-the-art digital studios and equipment, students will also have the opportunity to produce content and build their resume with a series of team-based projects. Finally, as part of the week’s programming, students will take a field trip to a local sports venue to understand the intricacies of sports media careers in practice. In all, we look forward to welcoming students to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÔÚÏß, just 12 miles from the sports media capital of the world, for an in-depth experience that will prepare them for their future studies in the field of sports communication.
In this program, you will:
- Get hands-on experience with cutting-edge cameras and studio spaces
- Learn about storytelling concepts relevant to sports media coverage
- Practice writing across multimedia formats for sports content
- Experience the routines of sports media content creation via a field trip to a sporting event in the NYC area
- Strategize communications plans for sports public relations case studies
- Analyze the impact that sports has on our culture as the Olympics Games are set to begin
