Federal Grants

Federal Pell Grant (PELL):

• A federal grant for eligible undergraduate students based on family resources, cost of attendance and enrollment status. Grant amounts are determined by the US Department of Education.
• Your actual grant amount will reflect the number of credits for which you are enrolled.
  • If you are registered for less than 12 credits your Pell grant will be prorated to the allowable amount based on the US Department of Education’s schedule.
• There is lifetime limit to the amount of federal Pell money students can receive.
  • If you are withdrawing from classes and/or not passing classing, you may reach your Pell limit before you complete your degree.

Federal Supplementary Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG):

• A grant provided by the federal government to Â鶹´«Ã½ÔÚÏß to assist undergraduate students with exceptional financial need. Recipients must be eligible for a Pell grant.

Ìý(TEACH GRANT):

• A federal grant up to $4000.00 per year to students who intend to teach in designated high-need fields in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low income families.
• If you receive a TEACH grant but do not complete the required teaching service, you will be required to repay the grant as a Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, with the interest charged from the date of each TEACH grant disbursement.
• Students must be admitted into a program with a Teacher Education certification to qualify for the grant.
• This grant is only available to eligible junior, senior and graduate students.

For the federal PELL, FSEOG and TEACH grant programs, a student is an undergraduate student only if s/he has not earned, or completed the requirements for a bachelor’s degree.

State Grants

New Jersey Higher Education Student Assistance Authority – NJ HESAA

• A grant provided by the State of New Jersey to full-time undergraduate students (12 credits or more per semester) who meet need criteria established by the State of New Jersey.
  • Recipients must be New Jersey residents.
• Students may be required to submit additional documentation.
  • HESAA will notify students of which documents are needed if necessary.
  • To submit documents electronically (Electronic Document Collection), please log in to your NJFAMS account.

Garden State Guarantee (GSG)

• Financial Aid program that provides up to four semesters of free tuition and fees for New Jersey, Junior and Senior Students based off the families adjusted gross income (AGI).
  • Recipients must a New Jersey resident.
  • Must be enrolled full time (12 credits or more).
  • Funding is based on annual state allocations.

• A grant provided by the State of New Jersey for students with exceptional financial need from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Students must be New Jersey residents
• Recipients must maintain full-time (12 credits or more per semester) enrollment and be designated an EOF student at the time of admission to Â鶹´«Ã½ÔÚÏß.

• The NJ STARS II program is a continuation of the NJ STARS program that provides successful NJ STARS students at New Jersey county colleges with funding to transfer to a New Jersey four-year public college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree.
• Funding for this program is contingent upon the availability of funds from NEW JERSEY Higher Education Students Assistance Authority (NJ HESAA).

NJ STARS II Requirements:

• Must meet all admission or application requirements established by the New Jersey four-year public institution.
• Must meet all institutional deadlines for admission and financial aid.
• Once admitted, students must submit a final county college transcript that reflects a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher to the New Jersey four-year public institution.
• Must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid () annually within established state deadlines.

Ìý(GUS):

Up to $1,000 per year provided by the State of New Jersey to academically qualified students who reside in designated urban areas.
